The Dragon Companion

The Dragon companion was written by Carol Wilkinson, author of the best-selling, award-winning Dragonkeeper and Ramose series.

All illustrations were done by me, including beautiful icons for each letter of the alphabet for the start of each Chapter. Carol’s research on this book was incredible – She really is an expert on dragons!

Ned Kelly’s Jerilderie Letter was the first book I was published in and this is one of my favourite images from that work.

I painted this for an illustration challenge at Houdini’s Last Escape – The subject was ‘Warner Brothers’. For me this was an opportunity to indulge in a landscape like the ones I’d seen way out west on my trips to the US. it reminds me of those outback scenes from Pixar’s “Cars” and of course a childhood full of after school Warner Brothers cartoons like “Road Runner”.

Lupe

I love this version of Lupe that I painted. I haven’t met Lupe, but through my studies with Jason Seiler I had access to  photographs of him that Jason had taken.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
